Emailing reports to parents
On Badge reports, choose Email to parents beside a section. The first time, Badges asks you to connect parent emails in OSM: it needs your section's primary contacts' email addresses, which your first connection didn't ask for. Tick the sections you want in OSM's permission screen, as you did before.
Who gets one. Everybody in the section is listed with their primary contacts 1 and 2 and every email address they have in OSM. Anybody with no address, or whose family asked to stop, is marked and can't be ticked. Two contacts sharing one address get one email.
The email. Add a note if you like (“Thanks for a great term”), choose where replies go (your own address, or the group's), and whether badges earned covers their whole time in Scouting or just this section. Preview shows exactly what one family will get, and Send a test to me emails it to you, PDF and all.
Sending. Press Send and confirm. It takes a few seconds a young person, so keep the page open until it says it's finished; it lists what happened for each one as it goes.
A reminder at the end of each term. On the same page, Remind me a week before each term ends emails you a week before the section's term ends in OSM, with a link straight back to this page for that term. It never sends anything to parents by itself: you still check and press Send. It's per section and per leader, and picks up new terms as you add them in OSM.
Only the group's owner and leaders in Badges can send them, and for now a group can send up to 50 in 24 hours.
